Pat McAfee Reveals What His Buddy Aaron Rodgers Told Him Regarding His Free Agency Decision

What is Aaron Rodgers going to do with his career going forward? It feels like we have asked this question every offseason for the past five years.

All indications are Rodgers might be holding out hope that the Minnesota Vikings might relive history with him, just as they did with Brett Favre years ago, and make him the next former Green Bay Packers star to suit up in purple.

On the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Pat McAfee—a longtime friend of Rodgers—decided to reveal what he knows about his friend and what he might be doing.

It turns out he is just in the dark about the situation like everybody else.

“But Aaron hasn’t said (expletive),” McAfee declared. “There’s not a lot of people that are in the Aaron circle that have any idea of what’s happening. And we only know that because we’ve been on this ride for the past five or six years, you know.

“And we have no (expletive) idea. AJ I don’t even think knows. It’s all very interesting with Aaron, always is, always has been.”

Unfortunately for Rodgers, it appears he might have to look elsewhere.

NFL Network reported Wednesday that Minnesota is “not pursuing” the four-time league MVP “at this time” and intends to move forward with quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

That leaves quarterback-needy teams like the Giants and Steelers, who are still pursuing Aaron Rodgers.

With the Vikings moving on, perhaps a Rodgers resolution is coming soon.

The Vikings have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for the 41-year-old Rodgers, who was released by the New York Jets earlier this month.

However, they plan on rolling with JJ McCarthy instead, which leaves teams like the Browns, Giants, Steelers, or Titans.

Those four teams have unsettled quarterback depth charts heading into the 2025 season.

While Rodgers will go down as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, his age started to show last season, and he might not pick any of these teams in the long run,

Rodgers flirted with retirement in the spring of 2021, and he might bring it to fruition in 2025.
