CLEVELAND, Ohio — Just a few days after signing off at ESPN, Will Cain turned up at Fox News Monday just like everybody thought he would. But his landing spot is a bit of a surprise.

The former host of “The Will Cain Show” and frequent “First Take” guest will join Jedediah Bila and Pete Hegseth as the third host of “Fox & Friends Weekend,” which airs Saturdays and Sundays from 6-10 a.m. The program had been using a rotating list of co-hosts since Tucker Carlson left for primetime in 2016.

His first broadcast will be August 15.

“Will has a unique ability to connect with an audience on a wide variety of topics and will make an excellent addition to the Fox & Friends franchise,” said Gavin Hadden, Fox News Vice President of Morning Programming, in a release.

“I am excited to join the team at ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’ and look forward to building upon my experience in sports, news and politics on the number one morning show in the country,” Cain said.

The change of scenery makes sense for Cain, whose conservative viewpoint didn’t always mesh with ESPN’s other hosts or the network’s “stick to sports” policy.

Fox News didn’t elaborate on his role during the rest of the week, but it’s a good bet he’ll appear as a guest to talk sports and politics on various shows, which he did occasionally for the network prior to joining ESPN in 2015.
