Peter Doocy is a prominent political journalist serving as the White House correspondent for Fox News. What many may not realize is that he’s the only son of longtime Fox & Friends anchor Steve Doocy, making them one of the most recognizable father-son duos in American cable news.

Peter was born on July 21, 1987, to Steve and Kathy Gerrity Doocy. After graduating from Villanova University, he joined Fox News in 2009 as a general assignment reporter in New York City — where his father had already been working for over a decade. Later, Peter transitioned to Washington D.C. to cover politics and eventually married Fox Business Network correspondent Hillary Vaughn.

Steve and Kathy are proud parents to three children: Peter, and daughters Sally and Mary. Sally has followed in the family’s media footsteps and works in the Fox News sales division, while Mary chose a different path, earning her law degree in 2015 and now working on Capitol Hill.

Kathy Gerrity, beyond being the matriarch of the Doocy family, is known for her own media career. She was a former model and ESPN host, and previously worked at WRC-TV in Washington D.C., where she met Steve. The couple tied the knot in 1986, a year before Peter’s birth.

In 2007, Steve Doocy published The Mr. And Mrs. Happy Handbook, a lighthearted but sincere look at his marriage. “I wrote this book because I love my wife,” he told the Christian Broadcasting Network.
