Plans are reportedly underway for a grand celebration of Ozzy Osbourne’s life in Birmingham, preceding a more intimate private funeral. This comes just a day after the announcement of the musician’s passing. The Osbourne family confirmed Ozzy passed away at the age of 76, surrounded by his loved ones earlier this week in a joint statement.

Ozzy’s d3ath sparked a wave of tributes, particularly poignant as he had recently reunited with his former bandmates for a farewell concert in Birmingham earlier this month. Fans have been leaving flowers on the Black Sabbath Bridge bench and bridge in the city, visiting the site to pay their respects. Reports now suggest that a star-studded tribute to his life could be held in the coming weeks, before a smaller private funeral takes place. Yungblud, 27, is among the names rumoured to be involved in the memorial event.

A source revealed to the Sun: “There are conversations about a celebration of his life in Birmingham, the city that meant so much to him. Artists like Yungblud, who was seen by Ozzy as a musician who could carry on the mantle of what he started all those years ago, is expected to have a role in it.”

The insider also mentioned that a host of celebrities will likely join in paying homage alongside countless fans. The source remarked: “There are hundreds of big names who will want to pay their respects and celebrate his life and legacy, as well as thousands of fans who would line the streets to say goodbye.”

Yungblud, who took to the stage at Ozzy’s farewell gig, Back to the Beginning, earlier this month, is believed to have formed a close bond with the late singer-songwriter. He expressed to fans that he was “truly heartbroken” following the news last night, reports the Mirror.

Ozzy’s widow Sharon is said to have sparked concerns with friends as she reportedly wants to bury him in the gardens of their family estate in a private funeral as she is “too frail” for a larger public service, according to the Mail. A friend told the publication that she is “very, very fragile” and that they are “terrified for her health”.

Yungblud, whose given name is Dominic Harrison, was one of the many to honour Ozzy’s memory. He shared an emotional Instagram post about their bond, accompanied by recent backstage photographs of them together.

In his heartfelt tribute last night, he penned: “I didn’t think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room. But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t.

“I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own. You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough.

“You took us on your adventure – an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.”
