Kelly Clarkson has candidly shared with her fans the bleak outlook on her love life following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

During her recent Las Vegas performance, where she’s holding court with a residency, the 43 year old songstress opened up about her decision to remain single.

In a TikTok video, Clarkson told the audience at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, explaining, “Dating can be very difficult,” which is precisely why she avoids it.

Clarkson, who was joined by her 11 year old daughter River Rose on stage, said dating is “challenging enough” and likened dating under the glare of fame to a “dumpster fire.” It comes after she previously told how she felt single in her marriage.

Clarkson’s comments come after their divorce was officially settled in March 2022, reports the Mirror US.

Fans resonated with Clarkson’s sentiments on steering clear of the dating world after the video went viral. One fan, commented, “I hear ya darlin’!” while another quipped, “I don’t need a man. I need my margarita and my cheese.”

The Grammy-winning artist tied the knot with Blackstock, who was also her manager, in 2013. Their separation led to an extensive legal dispute over money, property, and custody of their children.

Following her divorce, Clarkson secured primary custody of her children and relocated to New York City.

In a 2023 interview with USA Today, she shared her thoughts on the move, saying,”I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn’t be in L.A. I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can’t really do a show from there quite yet. So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.’”

During an appearance on Angie Martinez’s IRL podcast in 2023, she opened up about how the divorce had “ripped her apart.”

She further explained, “I wanted to make it beautiful, I wanted to make it awesome, I wanted to make it everything it possibly could be, and sometimes that just doesn’t happen.”

In May, while performing in Atlantic City, the singer, whose parents divorced when she was six, reflected on the cyclical nature of difficult relationships within her family. She said, “We learn from our parents, W.H.O. learn from their parents. We keep repeating the same horrible sh*t over and over. Now, it turns out that I chose the same f-ing path.”

Recently, the mother-of-two launched a collaboration with Wayfair, featuring replicas of the rug she uses during her Studio Sessions shows. The collection also includes 1970s-inspired furniture reminiscent of the pieces found on her stage and in her party barn in Montana.

Clarkson is slated to return to her home state of Texas next month to perform in a fundraising concert at the Moody Center in Austin for victims of the recent floods that devastated the state. Stars like Miranda Lambert, Lyle Lovett, and Cody Johnson will join her on stage for the August 17 show.
