A Jeopardy! contestant was named a “self proclaimed hero” after saving a man from drowning. Ken let each of the contestants share a story to the audience and viewers

Ken Jennings described one of the contestants as a ‘self proclaimed hero.’

On the Wednesday, March 12 episode of Jeopardy!, substitute teacher from Gambrills, M.D., Brian Nieves and a writer from Brooklyn, N.Y., Kristen VanBlargan, faced returning champion and nuclear engineer from Frederick, M.D., James Corson.

After the first commercial break, Ken gave each of the contestants to share a story for the audience members and viewers to get to know them. Brian shared a story about getting his masters degree in the U.K. and James shared a story about an Alex Trebek stamp that him and his wife use. Kristen’s story had to be the most revealing, literally.

The contestant was hanging out with some friends at a reservoir in North Carolina when a man was drowning and she came to the rescue, but there is a twist. She was nude.

She shared: “Decided to go swimming but didn’t have a bathing suit with me.” Ken quickly interrupted and joked: “This is a good Jeopardy! story already.”

Kristen continued: “My friend and I decided to swim across the other end without clothing on. Came back and a man who consumed too much whiskey was drowning. So we took him and brought him to shore.”

Ken said: “This guy is having the evening of his life. I assume he’s alright,” which Kristen reassured that he was. He proceeded to say: “Thank you for your service. That’s amazing.” He took a quick pause and added: “Mostly for him.”

Viewers at home were impressed with the story. One person on Reddit wrote: “Kristen might have had the most exciting interview story ever. Action, danger, nudity! Then James talks about stamps, that’s me IRL.”

Kristen ended up winning in second with an earning of $18,810. She got the Final Jeopardy! guess correct, as well as the other two but did not wager a thing. James will return the next day as he earned $28,800 and won the round against Kristen and Brian.
