Coronation Street fans have been watching Kevin Webster spin a web of lies in a desperate attempt to save his marriage. Played by Michael Le Vell, Kevin has even claimed he’s going under chemotherapy, but he will soon be exposed in shocking scenes. Tension mounts as Kevin, eager to avoid being found out, tries to hold everything together as he is threatened by Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard). But will Carl keep quiet, or will he use Kevin’s secret for his own gain? As Abi (Sally Carman) has a go at Carl for all the trouble he’s caused, he resists telling her about Kevin’s fake cancer. She then confides in Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) that she’s planning to tell Jack that Kevin’s cancer hasn’t responded.

However, Tyron assures her that Kevin isn’t going to die from cancer. Reeling from the lie, Abi confronts Kevin. He tells her how sorry he is, explaining he couldn’t cope with losing her.

Declaring that she can’t bear to look at him, a distraught Abi heads out and goes straight into Carl’s arms. As Abi asserts that she and Kevin are officially over, the pair kiss.

Carl then doubles down and informs Abi that she is doing the right thing by remaining with Kevin and that it’s best for them to keep their distance apart for the time being.

However, at the garage, Kevin tells Carl he’s sacked. He says he simply cannot trust him anymore, and Carl agrees that a new start might do him some good.

When Abi asks where Carl has gone, Kevin makes up that he quit his job and announced that he wants to start afresh somewhere else. This leaves Abi secretly gutted.

Coronation Street fans were forced to do a double take after spotting Ryan’s missing scars (Image: ITV)

Coronation Street has sparked fury from fans online after many called out an obvious blunder minutes into the show. During Thursday’s visit (July 17) to the ITV cobbles, fans reunited with beloved barman Ryan Connor (played by Ryan Prescott). But viewers were forced to double take when the cheeky chappy’s face looked noticeably improved following on from his horrific acid attack two years ago.

Loyal fans will recall how the barman intervened his colleague Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) from stalker Justin. Hours before she walked down the aisle to Dnaiel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) the brunette beauty left the bar as the Irish villain stormed into the Rovers Return and attempted to throw acid over her. Unaware of what was being thrown, Ryan intercepted the attack by jumping in front of her, causing him to suffer from severe permanent facial scars.

But it appears as though his distinctive scars are fading away after eagle-eyed viewers spotted his face looking hardly marked by the horrific attack in a recent episode.

It didn’t take long before fans flooded to fan website, Reddit, to call out ITV bosses’ huge error. Sharing a shot of Ryan’s almost clear face on the show, they asked viewers: “So are Ryan’s scars going to eventually fade away to nothing?”

It didn’t take long before fans flooded to the comments to share similar complaints online. One user insisted: “The reality of my facial burns after 65 years is they haven’t faded or flattened one iota [confused emoji].”

Another agreed: “ITV budgeting remember, ain’t no time for sitting in make up. How ridiculous. Ross in Emmerdale left the show for years and returned with his scars.”

One sleuth pointed out a similar incident of failed continuity: “It’s like Betsy at the house party a few weeks back, she was wearing a strapless top.

“I know Betsy would have been wearing a fake tan and had plenty make up to cover it, but you’d think there would have been some sort of evidence of a scar on her shoulder considering she had a big operation to remove a bullet from it only a few months ago.”

Another offered a similar example: “Like Todd’s facial scar from getting slashed in a mugging” as a third agreed: “Same as Jack’s leg growing back. It’s pure laziness of the show to not upkeep it.”

Meanwhile, others sympathised with the make up department, arguing: “It must be such a pain to apply that makeup every day they film so I guess yes one day they will just be done and no more.”
