British Mum’s Heart ‘Stolen’ in Turkish Hospital After Mysterious Holiday D3ath: Grieving Family Demands Answers

Portsmouth dad suffers 'deepest trauma' after wife, 28, mysteriously dies in Turkey - hospital probe launched

A British mother-of-two who d!ed mysteriously on holiday in Turkey was returned to the UK without her heart, her devastated family has revealed — sparking a harrowing investigation into alleged medical negligence, corruption, and a desperate fight for answers.

Beth Martin, 28, from Portsmouth, was looking forward to a dream getaway with her husband Luke and their two young children, Eloise, 8, and Tommy, 5, when tragedy struck just 24 hours after they landed in Turkey on April 27. What began as a family holiday quickly descended into a nightmare of confusion, heartbreak, and unanswered questions — culminating in the shocking discovery that Beth’s heart had been removed without the family’s consent.

‘It Broke Me’: Husband’s Agony as Wife D!es Abroad

Beth’s husband Luke has described the ordeal as “the worst week of my life.” The couple, described by friends as “inseparable,” had been excited for a break with their children. But within a day of arriving, Beth became suddenly delirious and was rushed to a local hospital.

“She just wasn’t herself,” Luke recalled. “She was confused, she didn’t know where she was. I was terrified.”

Luke says he was banned from seeing his wife in hospital, left to pace the corridors and plead for updates in a foreign language. Within 48 hours, Beth was d3ad. The hospital, he claims, gave him little information — and even accused him of poisoning his own wife.

“I was questioned by the Turkish prosecution, treated like a criminal while I was just trying to get answers for my family,” Luke said. “It was traumatising.”

Shocking Discovery: Beth’s Heart Removed Without Permission

The family’s ordeal was only just beginning. After navigating a maze of Turkish bureaucracy, Luke and Beth’s mother finally managed to repatriate her body to the UK. But when a British pathologist performed an autopsy, they made a horrifying discovery: Beth’s heart had been removed in Turkey.

“We had given explicit instructions — no organs were to be taken,” a close family friend shared. “We made sure the translator told them, we said it to everyone. But when she arrived home, her heart was gone. It’s sickening.”

The Turkish hospital had claimed Beth d!ed from a possible heart problem, despite no history of cardiac issues. Now, the family is left wondering whether her heart was removed to hide evidence — or for something even more sinister.

‘No Respect, No Dignity’: Family Forced to Carry Beth’s Body

The family’s heartbreak was compounded by what they describe as a shocking lack of respect from Turkish authorities. At the hospital morgue, Luke, Beth’s mother, and a translator were given just seconds to see her.

“We got to see Beth for maybe 30 seconds,” her friend said. “Then a staff member handed us the corner of the body bag and told us to lift her into the coffin ourselves. We had to carry her through a busy, rundown corridor, with people laughing and joking as we walked by. There was no dignity, no respect for the amazing woman inside.”

Confusion, Contradictions, and a Desperate Fight for Answers

Throughout the ordeal, the family says they were given conflicting stories by hospital staff and local authorities. WhatsApp messages from the hospital claimed Beth had undergone an angiogram and her heart was fine — then suddenly, she was moved to another hospital for “heart problems.”

“One minute it was toxic hepatitis, then septic shock, then something else,” Luke said. “We only found out about some of these supposed diagnoses by translating WhatsApp messages between staff. There was no communication, no transparency.”

To make matters worse, Beth’s family was asked to pay €2,500 to the hospital just to release her body. “They literally said, ‘Sorry your wife’s d3ad, can you pay now?’” Luke recalled.

Children Left Without Their Mum

The couple’s two children, Eloise and Tommy, were on holiday with their parents and witnessed their mother’s sudden decline. The last time they saw her was as she was loaded into an ambulance — which, the family claims, took two hours to arrive.

“Those kids lost their mum in the most traumatic way imaginable,” a family friend said. “Beth was the heart of the family, the one who did the school runs, the dinners, the bedtime stories. Now Luke is left to pick up the pieces alone.”

A Community Rallies: GoFundMe Raises £140,000

In the wake of the tragedy, friends launched a GoFundMe campaign to support Luke and the children as they face life without Beth. The appeal has already raised nearly £140,000, with messages of support pouring in from across the UK and beyond.

“Luke is self-employed, and Beth was the homemaker,” the GoFundMe organiser wrote. “He deserves answers, but he also needs help to look after his kids and keep going. The community has been incredible, but we need more people to hear Beth’s story.”

A Fight for Justice

The family is determined to get to the bottom of what happened. Beth’s cause of d3ath remains unknown pending a UK inquest, which may not take place until November. Without a UK d3ath certificate, the family faces bureaucratic hurdles at every turn.

“We want justice for Beth,” Luke said. “We want to know why she d!ed, why her heart was taken, and why we were treated with such disrespect. No family should ever have to go through this.”

‘If You Knew What We’ve Been Through…’

Beth’s story has touched a nerve on social media, with thousands sharing her family’s posts and calling for answers from the Turkish authorities. The family’s friend, who travelled to Turkey to support Luke, described the experience as “unbelievable.”

“If I could tell you everything that’s happened these past three weeks, you wouldn’t believe me,” she said. “The state of the hospital, the way they hid things, the way they treated us — it was like a nightmare. I can’t even imagine what Luke and the kids are going through.”

A Mother Remembered

As the family waits for answers, they are determined to remember Beth for the loving, vibrant person she was.

“She was an amazing mother, wife, and friend,” her loved ones say. “She deserved so much better.”
