Prince William’s weekend plans have been revealed, and he’ll have plenty to talk about with his daughter, Princess Charlotte.
It was confirmed on July 23 that the Prince of Wales, 43, will attend the final of the Women’s Euros on July 27 to cheer on the Lionesses.
The Lionesses is the nickname for the England women’s soccer team and soccer super fan Prince William will appear in his role as patron of the Football Association, the governing body of English soccer.
The game is set to take place at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland, on Sunday, and the Lionesses scored their spot after beating Italy 2-1 in the semi-finals on July 22, with both King Charles and Prince William’s offices sending congratulations on social media.

“Brilliant performance @lionesses! One game from glory! #WEURO2025,” Prince William and Kate Middleton’s team wrote on the couple’s Instagram Stories, sharing a photo of the squad celebrating the thrilling win.
Prince William has previously shown support for the Lionesses this season by visiting the team at their training base stadium before the Euros tournament and traveling to Switzerland to see their Euro match against the Netherlands on July 9.
The Prince of Wales’ latest plans to cheer on the Lionesses will surely have the approval of one young fan at home — his daughter Charlotte.
While all three of Prince William and Princess Kate’s children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — have inherited their father’s love of soccer, Charlotte, in particular, has shown a special interest in England’s women’s team, the Lionesses. The young princess joined her father in recorded messages wishing the team luck ahead of both the 2022 Women’s World Cup and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup — bringing along a soccer ball for the latter.

“Good luck, Lionesses!” Princess Charlotte said in that festive message, filmed outdoors as she and William sat on a bench together.
Prince William has previously described his only daughter as a “budding star” in soccer and passed along a message from Charlotte to the national team when he visited them in 2022.
“Charlotte wanted me to tell you that she is really good at goal. She said, ‘Please tell them that,’ ” the heir to the throne told the Lionesses then. “She’s a budding star for the future.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales are raising their kids with an appreciation for sports and athletic activities, and brought along George and Charlotte to the men’s singles finals of the Wimbledon Championships last week on July 13 in a surprise appearance.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were animated fans in the Royal Box alongside their parents, and even brought home a souvenir for Prince Louis, who at 7, might have been too young to tag along!
Prince William has never been one to shy away from the spotlight, but lately, his schedule reads like a whirlwind tour of Europe’s most pressing issues and most celebrated moments. Just this week, the Prince of Wales was spotted in Tallinn, Estonia, rolling up his sleeves and getting hands-on with the future—literally. William, 43, attended a workshop with a group of renewable energy startups at the Estonian Cleantech Association, a gathering that brought together some of the brightest minds in sustainable technology. The association itself is a powerhouse, representing the interests of cleantech companies across Estonia, and it’s clear that William’s visit was more than just a photo op. He was there to listen, to learn, and to lend the royal seal of approval to the kind of innovation that could help shape a greener tomorrow.
But William’s agenda in Estonia was about more than clean energy. He met with members of the Mercian Regiment, reaffirming the UK’s commitment to NATO’s eastern flank—a subtle but unmistakable message of solidarity as Europe continues to grapple with the fallout from the Ukraine conflict. The Prince also took a deep dive into Estonia’s own response to the crisis, exploring how technology and renewable energy are playing a role in both national security and economic resilience. In every conversation, William’s curiosity and empathy were on full display. He’s a royal who doesn’t just show up—he engages, asks questions, and makes sure everyone in the room feels seen.
Of course, even as he navigates the world stage, Prince William remains, at heart, a devoted father. It’s a role he wears with the same ease as his tailored suits and signature grin. Just a few months ago, the Prince was all smiles as he and his three children—Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—clutched gifts from well-wishers after attending the Royal Family’s traditional Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. The images from that chilly morning in Norfolk were pure magic: William, his children bundled up in their winter best, and the unmistakable warmth of family togetherness on display for the world to see.
But if there’s one thing that truly brings William and his children together, it’s sports. The Prince of Wales is a well-known soccer superfan, and his passion for the game is something he’s passed down to all three of his kids—though it’s his only daughter, Charlotte, who seems to have inherited her father’s competitive spark in spades. This weekend, William will have plenty to talk about with his budding soccer star, as his own plans have just been revealed: he’ll be heading to the final of the Women’s Euros on July 27 to cheer on the Lionesses, England’s beloved women’s soccer team.
The Lionesses have become a national phenomenon, and William, as patron of the Football Association, has been one of their most vocal supporters. The final, set to take place at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland, promises to be a nail-biter. England secured their spot after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Italy in the semi-finals on July 22, a win that sent both King Charles and Prince William’s offices scrambling to social media to offer their congratulations. On July 23, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram Stories lit up with celebration: “Brilliant performance @lionesses! One game from glory! #WEURO2025,” the couple’s team wrote, sharing a jubilant photo of the squad.
William’s support for the Lionesses isn’t just for show. Earlier this season, he visited the team at their training base, offering encouragement and soaking up the energy ahead of the Euros. He even traveled to Switzerland earlier in the tournament to watch their match against the Netherlands on July 9, a trip that made headlines and delighted fans. For William, these moments are about more than royal duty—they’re about genuine connection, about showing up for a team that’s inspired a nation and, perhaps most importantly, for a daughter who looks up to him as both a dad and a role model.
Princess Charlotte, in particular, has become something of an unofficial mascot for the Lionesses. She’s joined her father in sending recorded messages of support to the team ahead of both the 2022 Women’s World Cup and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, her enthusiasm infectious as she clutches a soccer ball and beams at the camera. “Good luck, Lionesses!” Charlotte cheered in one memorable video, sitting outdoors on a bench beside her father, the two of them sharing a moment that felt both royal and refreshingly ordinary.
William has never hidden his pride in his daughter’s sporting prowess. He’s called Charlotte a “budding star” in soccer, and when he visited the Lionesses in 2022, he made sure to pass along a message straight from home. “Charlotte wanted me to tell you that she is really good at goal. She said, ‘Please tell them that,’” he told the team, his face lighting up with the kind of fatherly pride that transcends titles and tradition. “She’s a budding star for the future,” he added, and you could tell he meant every word.
It’s no accident that the Prince and Princess of Wales are raising their children with such a deep appreciation for sports and athleticism. Just last week, William and Kate surprised fans by bringing George and Charlotte to the men’s singles finals at Wimbledon, their arrival in the Royal Box drawing gasps and applause. The siblings were animated spectators, cheering and groaning with every point, their excitement as genuine as any other child’s. And while Prince Louis, at just 7, might have been a bit too young for the occasion, his older brother and sister made sure to bring home a souvenir—proof that, in the Wales household, family comes first.
These public outings are more than just photo opportunities. They’re a window into the values that William and Kate are instilling in their children: teamwork, perseverance, and the importance of showing up for the people you care about. Whether it’s a soccer final in Switzerland or a tennis match at Wimbledon, the message is the same—sports are about more than winning or losing. They’re about community, about resilience, and about finding joy in the moment.
As the Women’s Euros final approaches, all eyes will be on Prince William as he takes his seat in the stands, ready to cheer on the Lionesses with the same passion he brings to every aspect of his life. And back home, you can bet that Princess Charlotte will be glued to the screen, rooting for her heroes and dreaming of the day she might follow in their footsteps. For William, these are the moments that matter—the quiet conversations, the shared victories, the knowledge that he’s not just raising future royals, but future leaders, athletes, and dreamers.
In a world that often feels divided, Prince William’s approach is a reminder that sometimes, the simplest things—like a soccer match or a family outing—can bring us together in ways that matter most. As he continues to navigate the demands of royal life, balancing duty and devotion with grace and good humor, it’s clear that the Prince of Wales is charting a course all his own—one where tradition meets modernity, and where the next generation is already waiting in the wings, ready to take their shot.
