Luka Doncic is seemingly moving forward after the unexpected events that reshaped his career. But the NBA world is still trying to process what has been described as one of the most shocking trades in recent history. After Dallas fans protested, it can be easily dubbed as one of the “biggest upsets” in Mavericks history.

Even NBA Commissioner Adam Silver admitted he was caught off guard. During his press conference at the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend, Silver expressed his shock at seeing Doncic traded.

“I was surprised when I heard about the trade. I did not know that Luka was potentially a player that was about to be traded. That was news to me. I followed it like a fan at that point,” Silver said.

The sudden nature of the trade raised questions about the Mavericks’ internal decision-making process. Unlike other blockbuster trades, Doncic’s departure seemed to come out of nowhere. Silver himself acknowledged the secrecy surrounding the move.

“That’s the kind of confidential information. That’s generally not shared with the league in advance unless a team is publicly shopping a player. To the best of my knowledge, that’s not what happened in the case of Dallas and Los Angeles,” he added.

Nikola Jokic Weighs In On Sudden Luka Doncic’s Trade

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic, a close friend of Doncic off the court, shared his thoughts on the blockbuster trade during the All-Star press conference. When asked about Doncic’s departure from Dallas, Jokic didn’t hold back in expressing his admiration for his friend’s talent. He also shared his belief that Doncjc was personally affected by the move.

“Luka is a generational player, generational talent. I’m just saying, I think Luca is somebody that did we see someone like him before who is affecting the game in so many levels, so many possessions, it’s just, he was building something there, you know, I think he was hurt,” Jokic said.

Doncic has wasted no time getting on the court with his new team, and his performances so far have been a mixed bag. He already played back-to-back games against the Utah Jazz and posted 14 and 16 points.

During the most recent NFL Draft in Detroit, social media was buzzing as athletes showed up to the red carpet event with their girlfriends and family. Many of the incoming NFL rookies were African-American and were spotted with white women, which has become the usual theme for years.

The same thing happens with the NBA Draft.

This year, the discourse on the NFL Draft and NBA Draft has gotten even louder as African-American women openly pondered why so many of the players never have a partner that is the same race as them.

One guy on TikTok decided to answer that question by revealing that the vast majority of his division-1 friends in college or headed to the league are dating or married to white women and explained why.

He stated that some of them had told him that their white girlfriend looked up to Taylor Swift while their girlfriend looked up to Megan The Stallion. He then states the guy asks how many white women he has seen doing the Megan Thee Stallion challenge as opposed to Black women.

He then dove into another story of a friend who relayed that his Black girlfriend started to request money from him as soon as she found out about his NIL money. She wanted her hair and nails done. He then added that the Black women would be upset if they went to places like Chipotle, and she demanded steak houses.
