Princess Anne ‘annoyed’ by Prince William’s ‘behaviour related to Windsor Castle’

She’s often described as the hardest-working royal by fans

Princess Anne has been left feeling “annoyed” by Prince William‘s behaviour related to Windsor Castle, fresh reports have claimed.

According to The Sunday Times, the Princess Royal, widely described as the hardest-working royal in terms of engagements, is apparently becoming frustrated at her nephew’s attitude towards one of the most important and traditional royal duties.

Princess Anne ‘annoyed’ over royal duties at Windsor Castle

The newspaper alleges that Princess Anne, 74, is unhappy about William, 43, taking on fewer investiture ceremonies than her at Windsor Castle.

She’s still doing most of the investitures [at Windsor] even though William lives there. It annoys her.

This is despite William, Kate, and their three children living at the nearby Adelaide Cottage.

Meanwhile, Anne resides an hour and a half’s drive away, on the Gatcombe Park Estate in Gloucestershire.

Investitures are the ceremonies where honours and awards are formally presented to those named in the king’s Birthday Honours list, therefore representing a significant part of royal life.

These occasions are traditionally carried out by senior working royals such as King Charles himself, the Princess Royal, and the Prince of Wales.

A source close to Anne allegedly told The Sunday Times: “She’s still doing most of the investitures [at Windsor] even though William lives there. It annoys her.”

Royal Insider has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment on this story.

Prince William and Princess Royal’s relationship

In spite of these reports, Princess Anne and Prince William are still believed to enjoy a close bond.

They are regularly seen supporting one another at all kinds of royal events. They also spend special holidays together.

As the Princess Royal returned to work following her recent horse riding accident, now believed to have been even more serious than was reported at the time, William and Kate called her a “super trooper”.

“So great to see you back so soon! W & C x,” they cheered her on in a heartfelt message.

Princess Anne and Prince William also reflected on their bond during a joint appearance with Princess Kate on Mike Tindall’s The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast.

While reflecting on family sporting memories, Princess Anne gave a glimpse of herself as a doting aunt to William.

She shared one particular anecdote about racing Prince William when he was a child in the gardens of Balmoral Castle.

“Running around the square at Balmoral, I was really good at that, I did corners really well,” she said.

William jokingly agreed: “You were quite quick! Also the look that you had on your face was quite terrifying.”

Next month, the Princess Royal will celebrate her 75th birthday. The occasion will be honoured by the release of a special coin.
