Lorraine Kelly has weighed in on Gwyneth Paltrow’s comments towards Meghan Markle, branding them as “very fair”. Gwyneth recently spoke out on claims that the Duchess of Sussex had copied her lifestyle brand GOOP with her new venture, with the star telling Vanity Fair: “I don’t know Meghan and Harry… I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all,” she said.

“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes… I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try,” she added. Although the star hasn’t yet seen Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, she insisted there was no competition between the two.

Lorraine weighed in during her Tuesday morning ITV show as she said: “I think that’s very fair. All of these kind of shows are sort of the same-ish aren’t they?” It’s only it’s a different person doing it.”

It comes after Lorraine recently gave a ‘one word review’ of Meghan’s new series. The show hadn’t gone down well with some with it being called “nonsense” by TV critics while some viewers brand it “out of touch”. A day after the release, she was asked by entertainment host Ross King what she thought of the show, to which Lorraine quipped: “Meh.”

She then explained: “I was not offended in any way but it was a wee bit dull. It’s just not my thing. I wouldn’t watch shows like that normally anyway. I saw the first episode, that was enough – fair play to her, she’s launching her business.”

The Duchess of Sussex shared her latest partnership with the streaming platform earlier this month – an eight part series, featuring a string of fames faces including Mindy Kailing.

Throughout the series, the former Suits star gave fans an insight into her favourite recipes as well as sharing rare insights into her family life with husband Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Despite some criticism, many fans tweeted how much they were enjoying Meghan’s show, with one writing: “I’m watching With Love, Meghan and it’s delightful. I will never understand the people whose entire personalities are hating her. It’s sickening.” Another agreed: “People just love to hate Meghan for no reason and are constantly putting her up against Kate. They are two different people. Let the woman live.”

The Netflix series has been commissioned for a second season as Meghan confirmed the news earlier this month. The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to reveal there will be a second series of the show. Sharing a video to her Stories, she wrote: “Lettuce romaine calm… or not (!) because I’m thrilled to shared that Season 2 of ‘With Love, Meghan’ is coming!

The show, which came out on Tuesday, was delayed from January because of the Los Angeles wildfires. In a statement shared by Netflix on Friday night, it was revealed that the second series of the show has already been filmed. Lorraine isn’t the only UK-based star to have weighed in on Meghan’s series as comedian Katherine Ryan also gave her take on a recent episode of her podcast, Telling Everybody Everything.

Katherine Ryan was previously a supporter of the Duchess of Sussex, and had previously said of her part in the Royal Family: “I love Meghan Markle ’s voice and her confidence to challenge the norm and what’s expected of her in that role.” However, following the release of Meghan’s new Netflix series With Love, Katherine has made her feelings about Meghan very clear, and accused her of “lying” about knowing who Prince Harry was. Katherine also claimed that Meghan was putting on an “act” that was very “manicured” and “forced”, as she slammed the Netflix star.

She said: “I liked Meghan Markle. I was rooting for Meghan Markle… though she is very Hollywood – even for me – and I don’t like that in people. I see now, and maybe it’s just the projects she’s choosing, it does feel like she has lied about whether she knew who Prince Harry was, and these details about her childhood change and don’t add up.

“She said on her new Netflix show that they ate TV dinners growing up. But then in an old interview, she was like, “we would eat farm fresh”. Her whole act just seems very manicured and very forced.”
