Defiant Prince Harry statement issued over claims William will ‘banish’ duke

Prince Harry’s team has pushed back in a statement against claims that he fears being “banished” from Britain by his brother, Prince William, when he becomes king.

The defiant response comes after royal author Tom Bower told the Mirror that Prince Harry was “seriously worried” about his future status in the UK once King Charles is no longer here.

Prince Harry’s team issues statement

“Harry is seriously worried that when his father dies one day, William will literally banish him and he will have no status in Britain at all,” Tom alleged. “He will be persona non grata.”

But a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex dismissed the claim outright in a sharply worded statement to GB News.

“It’s funny how the people who know the least about him always have the most to say,” they reportedly said.

The 40-year-old royal has repeatedly expressed a desire to reconcile with his family despite ongoing tensions.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Harry admitted: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” amid Charles’ ongoing cancer treatment.

Signs of a potential thaw emerged earlier this month, when representatives from both Prince Harry’s team and Buckingham Palace were seen meeting in London.

Meredith Maines, chief communications officer for the Sussexes, and Liam Maguire, their UK PR head, were pictured at the Royal Over-Seas League near Clarence House in talks with Tobyn Andreae, the king’s communications secretary.

It was reportedly the first time the two sides had met so openly.

A source told the Mail on Sunday that there was no formal agenda, only “things both sides wanted to talk about”.

Notably, representatives for Prince William and Princess Kate did not attend the meeting. Kensington Palace declined to comment on the absence.

Prince Harry makes solo visit to Angola

Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s recent solo trip to Angola is being hailed as a meaningful return to his humanitarian roots.

Last week, the Duke of Sussex visited the African country as a patron of The Halo Trust. The landmine charity was closely linked to his late mother, Princess Diana.

Travelling without Meghan Markle, who stayed in California with their children, Harry retraced Diana’s 1997 visit, walking minefields, meeting survivors, and raising awareness.

His journey was praised for its sincerity and symbolism.

“This is precisely the sort of work Harry should do,” former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror.

“It is not only a hugely worthwhile cause. But it also connects him with his mother, which is something he yearns for. I think he is coming to recognise that the LA celebrity world is one in which he is not especially comfortable. And he seems quite willing to let Meghan take the limelight over there.”

Harry’s return to frontline causes also echoes Diana’s own iconic efforts in Angola.

As Jennie added: “It’s brilliant he’s continuing her work and keeping her memory alive.”
