The show, titled ‘Kpopped’ also features music icon and American Idol judge Lionel Richie as executive producer.

In the show, singer Megan Thee Stallion will perform her song ‘Savage’ on the show.

She’s also previously appeared in series such as Max’s voguing competition series Legendary.

The new competition series, which will air on Apple TV+, is an eight part series which sees Western icons reimagine one of their biggest hits, collaborating with top-tier K-pop idols to deliver battle performances.

The new series comes with excellent credentials too as it’s produced by CJ ENM, the Korean company behind Fox’s I Can See Your Voice and Oscar-winning movie Parasite, and Eureka Productions, the Fremantle-owned company behind series such as Netflix’s The Mole and Fox’s The Floor.

A live date has yet to be announced for the hotly anticipated new series, with fans keen for it to air before the end of the year.

The series is the second music talent competition for Apple TV+, after the success of country music series My Kind of Country.

My Kind of Country, released in 2023, was created by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves and hosted by Mickey Guyton, Jimmie Allen and Orville Peck.

The platform has also tested out the evolving world of K-pop before, with docuseries K-Pop Idols last year.

The six-part series followed the lives of K-pop stars Jessi, Cravity and Blackswan.

Apple have also previously launched competition series such as Apple Music’s ‘Planet of the Apps‘, which ran for one season.

The first ever original Apple series, it focused on people pitching their apps to a panel of judges, which included Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, and will.i.am.
