Coronation Street’s Ryan Prescott is suing his landlord – Ella Toone’s boyfriend.

On June 12, last year, Joe Bunney, took to Instagram, accusing Ryan and his girlfriend, fellow actress Amy Lythgoe of squatting in a property he owned. Joe, 31, claimed that Prescott and Lythgoe’s tenancy agreement had come to an end and his grandad, 78, was hoping to move into the property.

Corrie actor Ryan denied the claims made by Joe Bunney

He later went on to claim that his grandad had been left homeless after the pair refused to move from the property. At the time, Joe said he was on holiday and had been shocked by the news as his grandfather had recently been made a widower. Ryan, 36, and Amy, 30, strongly deny the claims.

Joe swiftly deleted his post from his social media page but Ryan and his girlfriend say it has had a huge impact on them. They have now filed a £60,000 libel and defamation case against Bunney at the High Court. They say that the allegations that they were “squatting, trespassing and of causing hardship,” had been distressing for them.

The Sun reports that the pair want a retraction from Bunney. It’s also reported that Joe is yet to file his defence. Joe said at the time: “So I didn’t want to have to do this as a landlord & it’s so not me, but it’s embarrassing. I’m on holiday to find out Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott (I can’t tag him because he’s blocked me for whatever reason [laughing emoji]) & @‌amylythgoe have decided to squat in my house when their tenancy agreement has finished & refused to leave.

“Let me give you some context I have my 78 year old grandad who is ready to move into the property from today which has took some convincing him after recently losing his wife. We wanted him to be closer to our family so he wasn’t alone & he’s finally agreed and moving out of the pub he has owned for 40+ years. This is great news for us as a family.”

He added: “Only to find out that these 2 haven’t even looked to pack up & leave & are planning on staying beyond there tenancy which isn’t the agreement & they have had plenty of notice. Leaving us now with nowhere else to move grandad as he was set on this move!! Disgusting. Day 1 of tenants not leaving!!!!”

While Joe is yet to comment on the defamation case, he took to social media on Friday night to reveal he was supporting his girlfriend Ella during the Liverpool v Manchester United Women’s Super League. Taking to his page, he shared that he was at Anfield in the stands as Ella and her Manchester United teammates battled against the Reds.
