Prince William has confirmed that he will attend a major event within days.

 

Prince William will head to Switzerland on Sunday to cheer on the Lionesses as they play the Women’s Euro 2025 final, Kensington Palace has announced. Earlier this month, the prince, who is Patron of the FA, headed to Zurich to cheer on the team as they played the Netherlands during the group stages of the competition.

And before they travelled to Europe to defend their title, William visited the team at England’s national football centre in St. George’s Park. There, he heard from head coach Sarina Wiegman and other senior FA personnel on how the team was preparing for the tournament.

England will play either Germany or Spain in the final on Sunday, after beating Italy 2-1 in extra time last night.

William is currently enjoying the summer holidays with his wife and three children, who broke up from school earlier this month.

The Wales family, like the rest of the Royal Family, enjoy a break from royal duties over July and August following a hectic schedule of engagements.

It is not yet known whether his eldest child, Prince George, who celebrated his 12th birthday yesterday, will join him to watch the match.

The young prince is a keen footie fan and usually joins his father in the stadium to watch their team, Aston Villa, play and cheer on England.

William presented the trophy to the Lionesses when they won the 2022 Women’s Euros at Wembley, but he was heavily criticised for not travelling to Australia to support them in the World Cup Final the following year.

He did send a video message wishing the team good luck ahead of the game, where he was joined by his daughter, Princess Charlotte.
