The reality star is ‘struggling with mental health issues,’ a source says

AMBER Portwood is rumored to have been fired from Teen Mom: The Next Chapter after her appearances on the show this season have dwindled.

Though Amber, 34, has been a main cast member on the MTV show since Season 1 of the original Teen Mom in 2010, she has only made a short cameo on one episode so far this year.

Despite the rumors, Amber has not been fired from the show, a source told The U.S. Sun. (The Ashley’s Reality Roundup first reported that Amber has not been let go from the show, and the series has not been canceled.)

She will appear on at least three more episodes this season.

“Amber has not had any recent discussions with production about leaving the show,” the source insisted. “She has not been let go.”

The mom of Leah, 16, and James, 7, is appearing on fewer episodes this season due to her estrangement from her teen daughter and first baby daddy, Gary Shirley, the source said.

“Teen Mom is not a normal reality show,” the source explained. “It’s a show about her relationships with her children and co-parenting with exes, and when those relationships are not in a good place, that gets reflected on the show.”

On her sole episode this season, Amber admitted she was reluctant to film with the production team due to her depression over her messy split from her fiance Gary Wayt, who briefly was declared a missing person last summer. (He was eventually found safe, and the couple split around this time.)

“Amber is currently struggling with her mental health issues,” the source admitted.

As The U.S. Sun recently reported, loved ones have been concerned about Amber’s well-being for months.

“If it’s not canceled, I’ll get it canceled!” she fumed this week when someone asked about the show’s future.

She also claimed her co-stars, including onetime close friends Maci Bookout and Catelynn Lowell, have formed a “ball of hatefulness.”

“They can take the reigns, they can take that show. No, Maci did not start it!” she said.

“Good luck to everybody, the show has run its course.”

She also admitted she doesn’t watch the show, and just hears about it from other people.

TURNING ON AMBER

On a recent episode, Amber’s co-stars Jade Cline and Cheyenne Floyd criticized her for her broken relationship with her daughter Leah.

“After all that energy put into a man instead of a child, to me, that’s what doesn’t sit right with me,” Jade said of Amber’s attention to her ex Gary during their relationship last year.

“It’s hard to watch the behavior toward Leah,” Cheyenne responded.

“The whole energy that was put into this dude, the crying, the meltdown, I’m like, that should be put into your family, because at the end of the day, you can always get a new man but you can never replace your children,” Jade said, explaining that her mother Christy once put men before her kids.
