Great British Bake Off fans have all been saying the same thing after Prue Leith was replaced for the celebrity Stand Up To Cancer episode.

Channel 4 confirmed that Caroline Waldegrave OBE would be taking over from Prue temporarily, after the TV star, 84, confirmed last year that she’ll be taking a break from the specials due to the demands of back-to-back filming.

The SU2C series kicked off on Sunday with a duos special featuring husband and wife Chris and Rosie Ramsey and brother and sister Scarlette and Stuart Douglas.

The episode saw Noel Fielding’s TV return after he mysteriously quit filming for his Apple TV show The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, due to an unknown ‘health reason’.

And Prue’s replacement Caroline made her debut – but fans were gutted at the South African restaurateur’s absence.

Taking to social media, they said: ‘Where the hell is Prue?!’; ‘I want prue back!!’;

‘Who’s this new prue?!’; ‘no no no no im not liking this already where is our prue!!!!!!

‘WHERE IS PRU?!’; ‘Who’s the new person,??’; ‘miss Prue,’; ‘Bring back Pru ! Fake Pru just isn’t the same !’

But another fan was quick to jump to Prue’s defence regarding her decision to step away.

They wrote: ‘Totally understand Prue’s decision to step down from the celebrity specials of this show to focus on the main one in the summer.

‘She is 84 and it is a gruelling schedule. absolutely understandable and a great decision imo.’

In one of her first opening remarks, Caroline was seen giving her opinion on a batch of scones baked by TV personality Scarlette.

After biting into the treat, Caroline says: ‘Bit hard on the outside and soft on the inside, aren’t they.’

‘The taste is really good, absolutely delicious’, she concluded.

Paul Hollywood agreed and told her: ‘I actually think the bake’s well. I love the ginger in there, I think the ginger works really well and the rum comes through beautifully.’

It comes after earlier this month, Noel was spotted in public for the first time since leaving his TV show.

The star had spent weeks at his holiday home in the South of France but was recently spotted back in North London, where he looks in good spirits with wife Liliana Bird and a close friend.

It is the sighting of the comedian back in the UK after his publicists announced he would not be returning to film after the Christmas break due to an unknown ‘health reason’.

Over the Christmas break, Noel is believed to have flown out to his rural villa, near Nice, to spend the festive period with his partner and their two young daughters.

Yet after New Years he did not fly back to his home in London, with his co-stars and producers being left in the lurch.

Upon returning to film in January cast and crew members were told the production was being axed due to ‘the illness of a key cast member’.

And although sources have claimed the production had ‘no choice but to stop’ and many were said to be ‘concerned about Noel’s wellbeing’, some staff ‘are furious’.

The upset has meant that now more than 100 people who were working on the show are reportedly considering a class action lawsuit against the makers of the Apple TV+ comedy.
