Patrick Mahomes could soon try to secure a new contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on improved terms, in response to the numbers that Josh Allen is set to earn.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback has signed a new deal that sees him earn $330 million over the course of a six-year deal, which is more than any other quarterback in the NFL.

That has pricked the ears of people like Mahomes at the Chiefs, Joe Burrows at the Cincinnati Bengals, and Lamar Jackson at the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaking during the most recent episode of The Rich Eisen Show, PFT’s Mike Florio talked about the competition.

He said: “They all pay attention to these deals and when a big one happens, watch for Burrow to maybe get some sort of an adjustment, especially Mahomes. He’s got that ultra-long-term deal. But they’ve been moving cash into the short term to give him cash flow.

“That’s the key for quarterbacks. What’s your four-year cash flow? Allen now has the record at 220 million. Mahomes and Burrow are going to want to pass the 220 million that Allen has.”

Mahomes stakes his claim

Out of all of the quarterbacks, it is Mahomes that has the most reason to demand a new deal, He has won three Super Bowls in his eight years with the Kansas City Chiefs and he is currently on a $450 million deal over 10 years.

Florio also pointed out one of Mahomes‘ key bargaining chips: “Mahomes has the argument for it because Mahomes is the guy that keeps Josh Allen in the bills from going to the Super Bowl.”

Mahomes would be in an even stronger bargaining position if he had put in a better display against the Philadelphia Eagles and won the Super Bowl for a third time in a row.
