Coronation Street legend Vicky Entwistle has taken aim at deputy prime minister Angela Rayner in a furious social media rant. The 56-year-old actress, who is best known for playing Janice Battersby on the ITV cobbles from 1997 until 2011, reposted a snap of the Labour MP that asked X users to “describe her in one word”.

But Vicky had more than one word as she took aim at the politician, writing: “I’m not being funny but this silly lass is everything my strict father told me not to be. Google her! An utter embarrassm3nt to all us n0rthern w0m3n. She doesn’t speak for me and never will.”

Fans chimed in to agree with her, with one writing: “I’m from Bolton and we’re embarrassed to be associated with [Rayner].” Another joked: “I think you are being very polite!”

While someone else said: “Spot on with that one! Cringeworthy.”

It isn’t just Rayner Vicky has a problem with – she’s also hit out at prime minister Keir Starmer and London mayor Sadiq Khan. In a tweet last week she wrote: “Keir and Sadiq, the nation [is] crying out for help! I find you beyond useless! It’s like watching Laurel and Hardy without an inch of humour or compassion!

“A pair of s3lf-s3rving p3rformers that only highlight their own living rooms. Now without the big light on!”

She added: “When I was in [London] last week I was witness to three horrendous acts of aggr3ss10n. I wanted to film it and show you all… but was too scared to get my phone out?! What has happened to our country? I feel sad beyond belief.”

Another tweet read: “Does anybody else who has never been a gambler in their life put every spare coin they have on the lottery just to get out of this country?” with a crying emoji.
