OUTRAGE: BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty stunned by backlash calling it “CHEAP and BORING”.

BBC Breakfast viewers were left less than impressed during the most recent episode. On Saturday morning, BBC fans tuned in to see Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty deliver the latest headlines, including Donald Trump visiting Scotland.

However, during the programme, the duo paused its regular broadcasting for its brief technology programme, Tech Now.

The segment focuses on modern innovations and technologies that influence daily lives and first aired on March 29, replacing Click.

Click, hosted by Spencer Kelly and Lara Lewington, was the BBC’s flagship technology programme and first aired in 2000.

Although the show was rebranded and reformatted as Tech Now, viewers aired their frustrations over the change during Saturday’s show, especially as it took over from the regular Newswatch segment, which takes a break over the summer.

Taking to X, one person said: “Time for Tech Now?……. you mean Click but with different presenters?” Replying to a tweet, someone else wrote: “It’s so s***e.”

Someone else seethed: “It’s time for….Tech Now…..F***k No..” One person asked: “What was so wrong with Click that they’ve replaced it with this s***e?”

Another commented: “Tech Now….. So only two items loosely based on technology.” While another shared: “Replaces newswatch with poundland click”

Newswatch is a regular segment on Saturday morning and features presenter Samira Ahmed who provides a viewer and listener right-of-reply for BBC News.

On July 21, their official X account announced the show was taking a break for the summer and won’t return until September.

They wrote: “We’re off the air for a few weeks now, returning in the first week of September.

“But please keep sending in your comments on BBC News coverage, which we might feature when we’re back. And in the meantime do catch up with past editions on the @BBCiPlayer.”
